What do I even write on my website?

Cover image with confused girl - title says "What do I even write on my website?"

Writing about your business can feel harder than starting the business!

So many of my clients say things like “I have no idea what to write on my homepage” or “I hate talking about myself.”

The good news? You don’t have to be a copywriter to write great website content.

Here’s a basic homepage structure to follow:

  1. Headline – What you do and who you help

  2. Intro paragraph – What makes you different?

  3. Services – A brief overview with a link to learn more

  4. About you – A few warm lines (bonus: include a photo!)

  5. Testimonials or results – Let others speak for you

  6. Call to action – Book, buy, contact, or explore

Common mistakes I see:

  • Writing in the third person when your business is just you

  • Using too much industry jargon that confuses people

  • Over-explaining instead of simply inviting

  • Forgetting a clear call to action

An example...

I once worked with a lovely client who was launching her new therapy practice. She had so much to say but didn’t know how to frame it. We sat down together and translated her warmth and calm energy into homepage words that felt like a conversation – not a pitch.

Now, her website sounds just like her, and new clients often tell her they booked because her site made them feel immediately at ease.

Need help?

I can work with you by taking the words you put together and slice them up like a puzzle and re-organise into a well-converting website with calls-to-actions and easy to absorb content.

If you’d rather not write at all, or are really struggling with where to start, I partner with some amazing Website-Content Writers who can do it all for you – shaping your story into clear, warm and professional copy. Just ask me who I recommend!
